SBE Awarded Safety Training Grant
Shasta Builders Exchange Awarded $142,000 Safety Training Grant Through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Susan Harwood Training Grant Program

On September 28, 2021, Shasta Builders Exchange learned that our application to expand our safety training program through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program was accepted for a second year. After completing a Capacity Building Pilot Program in 2020-21, SBE is excited to continue offering zero-cost safety training to trainees of small-business employers and to underserved vulnerable workers in high-hazard industries of the North State.
Initial programs developed during the pilot program included Respirable Silica Awareness, Heat Illness Prevention, and Sit-Down Counter-Balanced Forklift Operation and Safety. Programs were developed for both English and Spanish speakers and offered at no cost to the trainees. SBE intends to update these materials and to develop additional courses for the following year.
Look for upcoming course schedules and training topics in our weekly emails and on our website. All training tuition and material costs provided through this program are offered free-of-charge to trainees and their employers.
