FORUM III

Shasta County – Making the Process Easier

a forum to discuss ways to encourage building and promote economic growth

On Wednesday, August 9, the Shasta Builders’ Exchange and Shasta Voices hosted the 3rd in a series of Forums developed to increase the communication and cooperation between our local governments and the development community. The purpose of these forums is to help drive our economy forward, thus creating the revenue base necessary to provide the vital services we desperately need.

Forum III was researched and professionally presented by Mary Machado of Shasta Voices.

The topics discussed Included:

  • Internet Options
  • Energy Initiatives
  • Policy Updates
  • Determining Fees
  • Establishing Expectations
  • Creating Collaboration
  • Generating Revenue

Over 60 community members attended including County Staff, County and City elected officials, representatives of the Shasta Builders’ Exchange, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Shasta Association of Realtors. There was a high level of interaction providing a better understanding and appreciation of the needs of the community. Many important issues were raised and much discussion was given to the potential obstacles to growth imposed by local fees and regulations.

Despite the economic realities and budget restrictions, the government has an obligation to make our community safe and improve our quality of life. More effective interaction with the community and gaining the community’s perspective are vital to effective governance.  These forums have played and will continue to play, a significant role in increasing the discussion and promoting better collaboration.
