The EXECUTIVE SUMMARY #11
Filling the trades gap
We all have friends or family members who struggle with traditional academics. They have bright minds and excellent mechanical skills. But, by the time they finish high school, they have no real career direction. College is not an option. So, how do we empower these bright young men and women?
We need to provide training that develops their aptitude and abilities! Right now, across this country, there are over 3 million jobs in the skilled trades that are unfilled because we lack the skilled labor. These jobs provide rewarding careers for those willing to work with their heads, hearts and hands.
The Trade School, at Shasta Builders’ Exchange, a not-for-profit corporation, offers high quality, accredited trade training in a variety of skilled trades including carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Our students learn from instructors who have made a career in their respective trade. Our mission is to develop the next generation of skilled workers who will build better lives and better communities.
