Cloud Wise Academy 3-week Accelerated WordPress Course in Redding

Redding’s Cloud Wise Academy to launch 3-week accelerated WordPress course

June 14th, 2017 – Redding, California – Cloud Wise Academy is launching a new class on WordPress following an unusually accelerated model. It will last only three weeks, and it will not require students to learn any coding at all, instead focusing on the interface of WordPress. This new approach is to designed to help students pick up very in-demand, “learn to earn” skills in technology as quickly as possible.

The class will begin on July 11th, and run Tuesdays and Thursday evenings from 6 – 9 PM, to be held at 4300 Caterpillar Road in Redding.

The story of Cloud Wise Academy

There’s no secret formula.Wordpress Class in ReddingCloud Wise Academy started its first course in the summer of 2016 with the goal of changing lives in the community. Since then, it has helped roughly 100 students develop their web skills. Many of those students have put those new skills to work after graduating, despite having no coding knowledge whatsoever.

One such student, Chris Webber, had been forced to quit his job as a gunsmith after the worsening of a back injury he sustained in the Navy. He took a Cloud Wise Academy class to try to change his career, and ended up launching his own local business building websites for companies. “Landing on something that I feel I’m good at and that I enjoy doing was one in a million to me,” Chris remarks. “Right now, the future looks awesome. I’m very excited about the future.”

Another student, Rodrick Dusio Macdermott, was a pizza delivery driver at Papa Johns and a mechanic with the National Guard. He’d never tried coding before, but after taking a Cloud Wise Academy class he realized he had a knack for it. He is now a web developer with Cloud Potential, a local marketing company.

These are just some of the stories of people who have had their lives touched by Cloud Wise Academy. Others have used the knowledge they acquired to better run their business, or to put their products online, or to build interesting multi-media websites.

Almost every industry or activity today could be elevated by a knowledge of the Internet – but these skills are commonly thought of as esoteric or difficult to learn. Cloud Wise Academy is dedicated to changing this misconception.

“There’s a real gap between the skills that businesses need, and the skills of the workforce in the area,” says Joe Mckenna, founder of Cloud Wise Academy. He wants to help locals transition into these areas of increasing demand and thereby improve Shasta County’s economy.

Learn Immediately Actionable Skills

Part of the strategy for doing this is with accelerated, friendly classes that can teach immediately actionable skills that allow students to gain confidence.

The other part of Cloud Wise Academy’s strategy is streamlining the class. “We don’t teach a lot of useless theory,” Joe explains. The goal is to cut out everything students cannot use right away, and teach the skills needed to learn on one’s own – including online resources like W3Schools.

According to the course description, at the end of the course students will understand how to “create and manipulate [their] own websites.”

This WordPress class will begin on July 11th and take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 PM. It will be held in the Cloud Wise Academy space in the Shasta Venture Hub, located at 4300 Caterpillar Road, in Redding. A laptop able to connect to the Internet is required. The cost is $275 per person, but scholarships are available through the Shasta Regional Community Foundation.
