Shasta Builders’ Exchange Training Center

Established as a branch of the Shasta Builders’ Exchange, a non-profit corporation, the Training Center was created by the construction industry for the advancement of the existing workforce through continuous education, training, and safety programs as well as a means to increase awareness of the career opportunities available within the construction industry.

Since its inception in 2001 the SBE Training Center has lead the industry through the development, implementation and operation of several widely recognized training programs for the benefit of SBE members and the local construction industry as a whole. Staying true to the intent of its creation, the SBE Training Center courses have been designed through a collaborative effort between SBE management and SBE members.

AGREE Park

The Shasta Builders’ Exchange is constructing three unique model homes, designed by three local architectural firms at market rates. The plans will utilize leading edge construction technology, energy conservation, and green building techniques. The homes will attempt to meet the requirements of the Redding Electric Utility’s green building program called Earth Advantage. Our goal is not to “trade off” increased construction cost for increased energy efficiency, but to help the architects use smarter, integrated design to achieve cost-neutral or reduced cost techniques that increase efficiency.

The homes will be initially constructed on Exchange property adjacent to the Training Center and remain there for twelve months during the education cycle of the project. After which, they are being donated to Habitat for Humanity Shasta Cascade and relocated to the Park View neighborhood of Redding, CA.

Earth Advantage Green Resource Center

To keep Northern California up to date on green building practices, the Shasta Builders’ Exchange has teamed up with Redding Electric Utility and their Earth Advantage Program to bring you the ‘Earth Advantage Green Resource Center’. The center will be organized to help the public and professionals research the most appropriate green building strategies for their projects. It will be housed with samples of the most popular environmentally friendly building materials and will provide free design advice and information about green building protocol. All materials and supplies displayed within the center will meet or exceed Earth Advantage criteria.

Green Resource Centers are starting to pop up throughout the state. This is because the public needs a universal learning tool that is local and available seven days a week. The Earth Advantage Green Resource Center will meet that need. Homeowners and Professionals alike will be able to visit the center and utilize it as a resource for any green projects they may be working on. Not only will the resource center house green materials, it will be green itself. The Builders’ Exchange is currently retrofitting the center to seek a LEED (CI) certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) has become the nation’s benchmark for green building.
